@Fa5t3r - I would try a wide range of different tones when recording and play them back to see what goes over the best and what projects the image you want people to hear. Remember that some people may be going to hear this message over and over again depending on how often they have to call you so you want it to be very pleasant and not at all irritating.
Hi, you’ve reached (name)’s answering machine. He/she is not in right now, but I’m totally open for suggestions.
“Good afternoon. You have reached the office of [your name]. I will be out of the office beginning on [date] and will be returning on [date]. Please leave a brief message with your contact information, and I’ll be sure to get back to you as soon as I return on [date].
