In today’s digital-first world, it can be extremely easy to treat things like your business voicemail as an afterthought. Your voicemail has the potential to communicate so much more effectively than its digital counterpart.
But it could indicate to the caller that you’re not all that concerned about being a professional. So just to play it safe, record your voicemail greeting in a place where background noises are inaudible.

Be honest...you've been fooled by this one before, haven't you? It goes like this: riiiing, riiing, riiiing "Hey." "Hi, it's Juli what's up?" "Oh. I'm not here right now, leave me a message after the beep". There is actually very little I find more irritating than this voicemail, especially for business. Why do you want to fake out a business opportunity? This voicemail leaves callers feeling embarrassed and you looking foolish.
4. Vacation Day Voicemail Greeting. If your business is off for a holiday, it's a common courtesy to update your voicemail to acknowledge the closure. With YouMail, you can get a free phone number that adds a second phone line to your cell phone. One phone with two numbers, as simple as that. With a free phone number from YouMail, your existing number works just like before. You can call with it, or send and receive text messages…
No one should be calling during the holidays, and yet some people do. When you’re out for the holidays, create a voicemail greeting that communicates the cheerfulness of the season while still staying professional.
Please leave a message with your name and phone number, and I will return your call as soon as possible. Thank you. Informal voicemail greetings. Some businesses are in the “business” of being less formal than a law firm, for example. And that’s okay. Informal greetings can be more approachable, as if someone is calling a friend.
Obviously, I need to update it. And if you haven't changed your voicemail greeting in over a year, you're likely in the same boat.

The script is relatively similar, but the doctor is including a good reason for not being available, so patients don’t feel like they’re being ignored. He’s also left another avenue for patients to get in touch if they need some urgent help.
Note: Voicemail, Visual Voicemail, and Voicemail transcription are available from select carriers in select countries or regions.
People have short attention spans these days, and you should always craft your communications for the lowest common denominator with something as universal as your voicemail.
