Offer other contact information such as a cell phone or email address if you will check it (i.e. on vacation). DON’T: Be too informal, even if you are creating a humorous message. Give a prolonged sales pitch in your voicemail greeting message. Waste a caller’s time with an excessively long greeting before they can leave their message.

The reason being it can either push your prospects away from you or retain them for longer.
14. “Thanks for giving us a call! We promise it’s never a bad time for [company name], but you’ve reached us after-hours. Please leave us your name, number and the best time to reach you and we’ll give you a call when we are open.” Let’s face it, you’re not always open. Yet that doesn’t mean you don’t want to help your caller. Let them know you’ll call them right back when you’re open again.
No one wants to sit and listen to someone talking drone and monotone on a voicemail greeting. Remember to keep it upbeat and avoid sounding like a robot!
Example: we have a Business Hours menu that is active from 10 am to 5 pm, a Lunch menu that is active from 2 pm to 5 pm, and an Evening menu that should take calls from 4 pm to 5 pm.
Keep your voicemail greeting short and simple. Your caller’s attention span is quite small and the timeframe he or she can dedicate to you very limited. Don’t waste their time, make sure you keep your message short and simple. 20 to 25 seconds are more than enough to say all you need to say in a voicemail greeting. Make sure your voicemail

Each of the Button fields corresponds to a number on the caller's phone keypad. In this example, we're using Button 1 for sales ("Press 1 for sales").
