When customers are trying to reach a specific person who is unavailable, personal business voicemail greetings can be used to make that personal connection or forward their calls to employees’ remote phones and numbers.

If anything big changes- address, phone, etc.- make sure you correct your voicemail early on. Keep It Short; We know, we know. We just gave you all this information and we’re now telling you to ‘keep it short‘. But, a professional voicemail greeting (or any for that matter) shouldn’t go beyond 20-25 seconds.

Expanding on the simple approach above, let the caller know who they've reached. This will not only eliminate people leaving voicemails by mistake, but it will reassure the caller that they have called the number they intended.
If the you haven't changed your personal greeting, a default system greeting will be played for callers. For example, "Please leave a message for John Smith. After the tone, please record your message. When you finish recording hang-up or press the pound key for more options."

4. Hang-up the phone when you have listened to all the voicemails you want to save
The general greeting is used on a daily basis for everyday missed calls while the phone is unattended. This greeting is generally played for people calling from outside of the company. “You have reached (company), where (slogan).
