Your greeting is very important as it can be the first contact people have with you or your company. Voice mail is only impersonal if you make it that way. One way to help increase the effectiveness of voice mail is to change your greeting at least weekly if not daily.

Provide a Description for this mailbox, for example "Support". If you wish to customise the greeting customers hear, select the Greeting dropdown. You can either select an existing audio file on your PBX, choose a file from your computer (New Sound (Upload)), or use your phone handset to record a voicemail greeting (New Sound (Record)). This is useful if you would like to replace the default unavailable message with a personalised greeting, for example "Thank you for calling the T-Shirt company. We're not able to take your call at the moment, but please leave a message and we'll get back to you promptly".
To allow callers to dial an extension without a menu prompt, check the Enable extension dialing without requiring a menu item check box. 7
We don't have a Help Desk voicemail. Our rationale is that if there's a call during work hours someone will pick up. That's our guarantee as our number is only for emergencies. If the call is after hours, then it must REALLY be an emergency (C-level or high level manager) so one of us will answer. Anything else goes to the help desk.
