Greetings can be changed using any telephone, or from the Personal Communications Assistant using a desktop computer; However, departmental mailboxes and those assigned to labs and general spaces must be updated using a telephone.
If you have indicated you will be checking messages, ensure that you do so. If your ability to do so changes, remember to update your greeting. Tip: have someone else call your voicemail and check your greeting. You may not hear your own omissions.
Note: Maximum storage for voicemail is 50 Mb regardless of storage time. You can change how long messages will be kept on the server before auto-deletion by navigating to Unite > Settings > Voicemail settings. Verify the correct time zone is set (Services > Unite > Auto Attendant > Edit Auto Attendant > Settings > General > Time Zone) because it will affect the Business/After Hours. Make sure the extension and phone numbers are assigned as intended. It's easy to get carried away in a voicemail and include more detail than is necessary. We've all been in that situation where the automated or pre-recorded voice on the end of the line goes on and on with more information than you can take in.
A separate greeting can be created for after hours, and typically includes additional options for customers, or at minimum, informs them that your office is closed. In these greetings, it’s beneficial to inform your caller of your regular business hours, as well as provide them with a link for technical support, or additional contact method (if applicable).
