This is not what you’re thinking. You don’t have to spend time leaving a voicemail. All you need to do is prerecord your voicemail, and you can leave them all day long with the click of a button. In fact, you can even move on to your next call while your dialing software leaves the message for you. Now that’s what we call efficiency! We’re a little biased, but Call Logic is the perfect software for these instances.
d. Utilizing Ambiguity Over Clarity: When setting up your voicemail greeting be direct and to the point. Tell callers your information, a brief greeting, and direction—i.e. “Hi, this is Jim Shamalam (from Iron Industries). Sorry I can’t take your call right now. Please leave your name number, and a brief message and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you.” This is ideal, as you inform callers and let them know what they should do to ensure a return call. A lack of direction can lead to callers leaving incomplete messages (lacking contact or other information) or even callers hanging up without leaving a message altogether.
Ideally, you have a few scripts ready to go for every call. At a minimum, you should have a cold call script, warm lead script, and voicemail message scripts at your fingertips. Voicemail marketing is an especially important place to use a script. Why? You have 20-30 seconds to leave your message (shorter is usually better). You want it to be concise, engaging, and, of course, encouraging of a callback. When all the information is right in front of you, you don’t have to think about it or worry whether or not you left out anything important. We’ve all probably left at least one message with the wrong callback number or a message where we fail to identify ourselves or our company. Scripts help prevent this!
