Here’s a simple fact. If you don’t leave a voicemail, you aren’t going to get a call back. Still, a lot of salespeople don’t leave voicemails, assuming their call won’t get returned, or the prospect won’t listen anyway. But what if they’re wrong? What if the prospect does listen and does call back? Or, what if after a few voicemails they decide you might be the service provider they need? We can assure you that if you aren’t leaving a message, then your prospect won’t know who you are, why you called, or what you have to offer them. And we could be wrong, but if you plan to make a sale, you probably need to talk to your customer.
Typically, most of these services are uniform—i.e. include the same tools and features (send a script, they record it in a tone you approve, they send it as a file, you supply any feedback, etc.); however, there are some services that go above and beyond. We’ve grown into a country where our attention span can last only about 10 seconds in some cases, so keep it short, brief and to the point. Persuade and Engage the Caller. If someone calls your business, they already have an intention. It’s the quality of your voicemail that plays a factor if they consider you a company they’d like to deal with. This is your chance to motivate someone to engage in a meaningful conversation with you. If your voicemail is shoddy, chances are they’ll hang up, or lose motivation to continue the call.
