Here are several tips to consider when setting up a professional voicemail greeting:
7. “Hi, you’ve reached [your name] at [your company]. Sorry I missed your call. I’m especially busy today, but if you leave me your name, phone number, and a brief message, I’ll get back to you within the day. Chat soon!” Your callers want to hear from you soon. Calling back within the business day lets them know you’re reliable despite how busy you are.

Your virtual phone system allows you to make outbound calls that display your company's caller ID. That way you can keep your personal cell phone number private and look more professional when making outbound calls.
When you’re looking for a job, a good rule of thumb is to answer your phone as often as you can. You never know when a recruiter might be calling to set up an in-person meeting, or conduct a phone interview.

4. Remember, They Are Calling for a Reason. If someone takes the time to call and leave you a voice message, they usually have a reason that they are calling.

9. “Hi, you’ve reached [your name]. I’m unable to come to the phone right now. But if you leave your name, number and a short message, I’ll be sure to call back.”
– Driving to the day care center to pick up Tracy. Leave a message if it is urgent or I shall return your call in a little while.
The biggest barrier is actually getting them to leave the voicemail in the first place. Don’t get in your own way by recording a long, drawn-out voicemail greeting that might do more to convince them to hang up than actually leave a message.
