8. “Hello, this is [your name] at [company]. Thanks for calling. Please leave your name, number, and the reason you’d like to chat, and I’ll get to back to you ASAP.”
While covering all of the relevant information, aim to keep your voicemail to about 20 seconds. You definitely should not ever record a business voicemail longer than 30 seconds, and anything less than 10 seconds will typically mean that you are either speaking too quickly or aren’t providing all of the required information.
These skills help you stay on point and will have people eager to hear your message and return your phone calls!
Or maybe you’ve heard the voicemails that seem to catch the caller entirely off guard. You can hear them chewing, taking a sip of water, or the classic, “Oh, um, hi.”
No emoji or smiley face anything in professional emails. Sad, but true. {I wish I could insert a sad emoji right here.} Keep everything clear and concise. Write an email like you value the other person’s time. Get to the point. Of course, you still want to communicate effectively, but no need to write a dissertation on the subject.
