Make it funny! Now not everyone is the funniest comedian, and this time to practice a stand-up routine. No one wants to reach your voicemail just to be greeted with 15 knock-knock jokes. But you can easily add some humor, lighten up the tone a bit and try to leave people with a smile. Of course, keep it light – no dark humor here.
Ideally, you have a few scripts ready to go for every call. At a minimum, you should have a cold call script, warm lead script, and voicemail message scripts at your fingertips. Voicemail marketing is an especially important place to use a script. Why? You have 20-30 seconds to leave your message (shorter is usually better). You want it to be concise, engaging, and, of course, encouraging of a callback. When all the information is right in front of you, you don’t have to think about it or worry whether or not you left out anything important. We’ve all probably left at least one message with the wrong callback number or a message where we fail to identify ourselves or our company. Scripts help prevent this!
1. The Welcome Greeting. This is the first greeting callers hear when they call your company. Sample Scripts: “Thank you for calling [company name].” “Thank you for calling [company name].

State your name clearly so the caller knows they have the right number. 3 of the messages I heard last month were missing his/her name.
Bonus Tip: If you find that people get cut off before completing their message, call your cell phone carrier and for a couple dollars a month, you can lengthen the time people have to leave you messages. If you will follow these simple tips, you will make a positive impression through your voicemail greeting.
d. Utilizing Ambiguity Over Clarity: When setting up your voicemail greeting be direct and to the point. Tell callers your information, a brief greeting, and direction—i.e. “Hi, this is Jim Shamalam (from Iron Industries). Sorry I can’t take your call right now. Please leave your name number, and a brief message and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you.” This is ideal, as you inform callers and let them know what they should do to ensure a return call. A lack of direction can lead to callers leaving incomplete messages (lacking contact or other information) or even callers hanging up without leaving a message altogether.

3. Use your profession. Adding your professional designation is still a better option than adding vague numbers to it. Here are a few examples of email address ideas where adding a profession can help you get the desired email username even if your regular IDs are not available
Consider adding 'You can also email your query to us at [insert email address here]. These queries will be answered within [insert time frame].' Again, if you intend to make a promise to your customer in a voicemail, ensure you keep it.
