This may sound odd, but the audio track needs a bit of grit or background music, or it should clearly sound like an automated recording, so the caller knows that it’s a recording.
On hold messages can be recorded for many purposes, such as promoting your business, answering FAQs or announcing important customer service information. It's important to be clear in the message you are trying to get across. Confusion leads to disengagement and reflects badly on the brand. Determining your callers' wait times is necessary to determine the required length of the on-hold message. Making the recording too short can lead to the message being played too many times. This can be repetitive and lose the caller's attention while they hold.
Whether you have a traditional PBX (Public Branch Exchange) phone system that requires an on-hold message playback unit or the latest in VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) phones, our on-hold messages and professionally recorded voice greeting and auto attendant recordings will improve that way your callers perceive your business on the phone.

Here are a few things to keep in mind to have a killer script your callers will be receptive to: Speak to your audience: When creating a script, make sure you know WHO you’re talking to above anything else. Is it moms, teenagers or middle-aged men who like golf? Appeal to their interests in relation to your business with a captive voice, and they’ll be much more willing to listen (and be patient while doing so). Time it appropriately: You know your business better than anyone else, so as such, you’re probably aware of a caller’s average hold times. While this can vary with growth and other factors, make sure you record enough messages to fill the time so a caller isn’t stuck hearing an eternal loop of the same 3 messages. They’ll thank you for it by being far less irritated. Stay current: Some companies have seasonal sales and changes, so including this in your script as the year progresses means you remain relevant with the latest and greatest. For example, during the holidays you can say “Seasons greetings from Fletcher’s Flowers...” or something similar. You can also include event notifications, advertisements, and other informational messages so they learn more about your business. Be natural: Think about how you’d like to be talked to. Typically, a robot isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. Writing for auditory purposes elicits a different approach than writing for digital or print. Make sure whatever your script is that you read it aloud, and test it out on coworkers or friends. If they get bored or disengage, chances are, your callers will too. Know their path: What’s your end goal for what you’d like your caller to accomplish? Tailor your messaging to them based on what you come up with. If you’d like to upsell, consider using some on hold time to discuss a company-wide promotion they can take advantage of, or a fun fact about your industry they wouldn’t know. Give a call-back option: If your phone system has the feature and a caller doesn’t have time to spend on hold, offer them the option to receive a callback without affecting their position in line, or to leave a message. This can alleviate the stress of waiting.

It depends on your business industry, type of callers and marketing plan. Assuming that you take a profit driven approach to using your telephone on hold messages as a marketing tool, you will want to consider changing at a minimum of twice per year, however its best to be more proactive and update more often like quarterly or even monthly. Callers love something new and refreshing (don’t we all!), particularly those that frequently call back and are placed on hold! Why not inform them them of special promotions, new products, or customer service info – there’s always something more that can be said! Make the most of your telephone’s on hold messaging infrastructure. It is an effective way to win, retain, and sell your callers on hold.
A dedicated Holdcom Script Consultant will write your script based on your input, and marketing and customer service materials. Or you can write your own.

Can I use the music of my favorite artist/band/performer as the background to my Message on Hold program?
My experience with messages on hold and their representative Jaity was fantastic. This is the first review I have written in a long time but I was so surprised at how easy she was to deal with and that nothing was too much trouble. I am extremely satisfied with the service. Thank you for making this task so easy.
