The waiting queue allows the caller to wait on the line and should not be longer than 5 minutes. The queue announcement may also be introduced after a "Welcome Message”. The waiting announcement is then cut immediately after the end of the "Welcome Message". The pauses between the announcement blocks in the queue should be about 30 - 60 seconds. With us, you can choose the desired durations. Here, you can get the right background music for your queue.

*This does not include phones purchased off the shelf at office supply stores such as Staples and Officemax. For the most part, these phones do not have the Message on Hold capability built-in. Add-ons are available for some models but their functionality can be problematic or inconvenient for the user. The best course of action is to upgrade to either a basic key phone system or one of the new virtual phone systems, for which Holdcom is a key audio production supplier. Very helpful, prompt and friendly service made it very easy to set up messages on hold.
We provide a "sound" alternative to callers listening to dead air, feeling forgotten and unimportant, or worse yet, listening to competitor's commercials on the radio. We offer you an "Opportunity on Hold" - an opportunity to make the best of your customers' time while they wait on hold.
Even if you have a VoIP telephone system, your call will eventually go across the PSTN (like the traditional landline calls), where network operators are able to do whatever they like. Plus VoIP and mobile operators use high-compression codecs that degrade the overall quality of the sound. A good codec can take a 9600bps audio stream (toll quality ISDN voice) and take it down to the required bandwidth by a factor of 10 or more.
If multiple files are uploaded, they are played in the order that they are listed on the Music On Hold page. If there is only one file, it is played repeatedly.

For those still using analogue or digital phone systems, voice on ISDN circuits has a bandwidth of around 4000Hz. The audio from an analogue phone is sampled at 8000Hz, and because of the nyquist theorem, must be low-pass filtered to 4000Hz. So any frequencies in the audio beyond 4000Hz are lost. Interestingly, the human ear and mind are good at recognising human speech, so this is considered "toll-quality" voice, i.e. good enough to pay for. This is the reason why certain vocalised letters are difficult or impossible to tell apart on the phone. For example, the differences between B, P, T, C, etc. are almost entirely above 4000Hz.
