2. If the hold is more that a couple of minutes make sure to thank customers for their time. Apologize for delays if hold time is significant.

Call hold/call wait is a network feature (while it is activated by the handset) as such any music would be supplied by your carrier, there should be some there but chances are it's some wonderfull elevator style stuff (I'm partial to Brahms myself đ ). Solo guitar and piano music can also be decent choices provided you avoid songs with extremes of high and low volumes and pitch. Most phone systems come with default tracks that, coincidentally, fall squarely into these categories. If youâd like something a bit different then you can find plenty royalty-free tunes available to purchase online (theyâre not all that terrible), but remember you'll need to pay for a PRS license if you want to make use of tracks by a recording artist.
You also need to factor in your average wait time. If you know your callers will be listening for a while, choose something other than rock or alternative, which creates the perception of longer wait times.
On-hold music is considered standard in business phone systems today because people actually perceived wait times as shorter when they hear it. On-hold music traditionally worked by having specialized equipment attached to the phone, and the jack might plug into the radio, then tapes, then CDs, then MP3 players. PRI boards are built with jacks to play on-hold music.
We're a medical practice and have been using Messages On Hold for around 4 years now. Sian has been our point of contact for this time and she is fabulous. Always so responsive and 'on top of it.' The proposed scripts, edits, suggestions and changes are always clear and easy to see. Not to mention the voices and music as part of the end result are fabulous. A highly recommended team and company! 2 months ago

Thereâs even a fairly steady stream of surveys and news articles on the subject, all of which confirm that hold music is one of the aspects of contacting call centres that really drives people nuts. OnSIPâs enhanced music on hold allows each user to select their own hold music, so each caller gets different tunes depending on who put them on hold or which menu they came in through. (You can even change your hold music for the holidays or for a special event!) You can also record a customized hold message to engage your callers while theyâre waiting on the line. This presents a great opportunity to advertise additional features of your business or inform your audience of a special sale or promotion.

the prompts or use the softkeys below the LCD to save or delete messages. 4. Hang up when you are done. To check messages from outside the system 1. Call into voicemail. To do this will depend on how your system is configured. If a human answers the phone during the day the easiest way is to ask them to transfer you to any voicemail box. If you
Even if your wait time is short, donât discount the power of hold music. OnSIPâs average wait time averaged 18 seconds last month, which is just long enough for the caller to notice that the instrumental music is pleasant, with enough character to prevent boredom, before our team picks up. When thatâs the last thought in your callerâs head before speaking with your business, itâs likely to be a more pleasant conversation than it might have been otherwise.
Cornell's "I'm On Hold" follows some of the industry standards, particularly around frequencies and compression, which is one of the reasons he wrote it with a country-ish melody, wanting something simple but catchy, with only a single instrument and vocals. But in other ways, "I'm On Hold" totally upends the genre by breaking the cardinal rule â that hold music shouldn't call attention to itself.
