Custom Messaging on Hold is a service that uses pre-recorded messages, music and branded content to improve your callers hold experience. Instead of dial tones, beeps or silence you can play a custom message of your choice to callers while they wait.

A well written script is the cornerstone of any great on hold message. It must capture the caller’s attention, so they remain engaged while navigating menu options or waiting on hold. The script that callers hear can set the tone for the rest of the conversation. It should also be in line with your goals, which can be broken down to 3 main objectives. It can be to inform the caller, promote the brand or product, or just entertain the caller. Most of all, it has to be engaging.
Frequent prompts can make people feel like they’ve been on the phone longer than they actually have. I’m sure you’ve been there – you’re on hold and the voice keeps telling you that your call is important and someone will be right with you.
The intro greeting should be a reassurance that the caller has reached the correct organization along with general information about the company, and information that you want the caller to have on hand. Good information to provide at this point might include organizational slogans, years in business and general product information.
Hold music is part of a good customer service model, demonstrating to callers that you care about making their wait a positive experience. It boosts your professional image and increases credibility, particularly when using custom messages …
If it is a genre, hold music, it's fair to say, is a troubled one with few hits. It's not really meant to be loved or even listened to — it's meant to communicate something specific: Don't hang up. (Cornell makes this plea specifically at the end of his song.) Silence is believed to be a death knell for phone calls — people will simply think the line is dead and hang up. This is true even on non-hold calls; it's why phone companies transmit something called a "comfort tone" over phone lines, a barely audible synthetic noise that signals a connection is still there.
Currently the on hold music starts from the beginning every time. Our on hold file has office information, bios of our doctors, as well as dental tips and services we provide. Since the on hold plays from the beginning every time someone is placed on hold, they end up hearing the same thing every time. We would LOVE the ability to choose for our on hold audio to loop. And when someone is placed on hold they just start listening to where the audio recording is currently on. So they get to hear different parts.
