I agree with you. The music phone service provider use is never the best! Like you, when I switch to my calendar on iPhone and ask my caller to wait while I do that, it would be great to have one of my iPod tracks play to him until I pressed the green bar again to return to the call. Surely one could set that up independently of the phone service provider: just a matter of substituting my music choice for my voice until I clicked back off hold?? When creating content for your Message On Hold program, you should always keep your customer in mind. As the recipients of your messaging, they're the ones with the most to gain - or lose - from what you have to say. But as you help your customers, you can also improve the impression they have of your business, and your image overall. When callers are put on hold, music is played over the phone while they are waiting. You can upload your own music file to play, or several music files to rotate. If you do not upload your own files, callers will hear the music that is set by default.

So, given that hold music is such a powerful potential source of frustration, why do companies continue to get it wrong? Reading the articles that are out there, there seems to be a lot of speculation regarding the best choice of music to placate or even entertain customers while they wait in your queue. Some common suggestions include “Hanging On The Telephone” by Blondie, or Lionel Richie’s “Hello, is it me you’re looking for?”. Or how about looking up the customer’s record in your call centre CRM, grabbing their date of birth, and playing something based on their age range - pop for the under 25s and presumably something fusty for the oldies?
We collaborate with your business to create an on hold message that’s specifically designed for your needs.
Not quite the desired effect, I think you’ll agree. It might be funny if you and I didn’t have to endure it time and time again.
