I haven't used this device for an extended period, but since there are no mechanical parts, I expect that it will last. We have been using a professional on hold service for many years at about $60/month. The box that the professional company gave us sounded great when customers would call from a Lan Line. But, when calling from cell phone the voice messages were lower volume and the music would sound horrible. Music keeps cutting in and out and sounds very staticky. So we decided to save some $ and cancel our subscription and buy this unit. We are using the default music and voice messages that came preloaded instead of doing our own music and messages.
Each recording is customised to suit your business requirements. You can choose from a range of tones, voice artists, or create a custom script for your on hold message.

VoIP, or Voice Over IP, is becoming a very popular alternative to traditional phone lines. This type of service operates over the internet, allowing businesses to make calls without paying for a regular phone service. If you use VoIP, that is no reason to forego on hold messaging. In fact, many services are now VoIP compatible. This makes your low-cost phone option that much better, because you can still enjoy the same useful marketing service.
The products are reasonably priced, the customer service is good with knowledgeable and friendly staff. We've been using the business for years and fully intend to continue
The waiting queue allows the caller to wait on the line and should not be longer than 5 minutes. The queue announcement may also be introduced after a "Welcome Message”. The waiting announcement is then cut immediately after the end of the "Welcome Message". The pauses between the announcement blocks in the queue should be about 30 - 60 seconds. With us, you can choose the desired durations. Here, you can get the right background music for your queue.
So modern technology, even with the most advanced VoIP business phone systems, has not improved the plight of the on hold song. If you are interested in learning more, check out Tom Scott's explanation at the Milton Keynes Museum, in their Connected Earth gallery.

On average, 5 to 15 seconds of music plays between each message blurb. Keep your audience in mind: musical breaks that are too long are boring, but message blurbs that are long or too detailed can be overwhelming. In most cases, 5 to 15 seconds, between message blurbs that don’t exceed 30 seconds are usually appropriate.
