This product works exactly as it states. I did not use the software that came with it, but with a few online searches it was easy to figure out how to convert a voice memo on my iphone to a compatible file, and background music is easy to find online too. So I read from a script I wrote with background music playing and made a voice memo on my iphone, converted it to the appropriate music file with free online software, and dragged and dropped the file into the usb drive they provided. Very low tech but the end result is excellent and I can change it up as often as I want. Very pleased with the purchase. I have an older phone system that came with my business when I started renting. There was a male adapter plug that was plugged into a CD player, but if the CD player was not running, I got no sound for "on hold". Sometimes I would remember to turn on the CD and put it on repeat, but...somethimes it would be turned off for months (the system is in an enclosed stairwell that is hard to get to).

2 days after ordering my Grace Message Player, it came from Amazon in perfect condition (I got prime yo!). I plugged the power cord in, and plugged the male thingy into the Grace thingy, and bam, we have had on hold music ever since. After a few minutes of music, they have a male voice come on explaining that we care but we are busy...we have not forgotten you etc etc, and then some more music, and then a female voice saying basically the same thing. I guess I could load an mp3 with some sales stuff on it, but I kind of like the neutural message that they already had on the machine. I am sooo glad I got this thing. Highly recommended. If you don't like it or it does not work, I bet Amazon would take it back, too.

AT&T has offered music while the phone is ringing to the calling party (music plays instead of ring...ring..ring), but they charge what seems to be a lot for the service and it only lasts for a year, as I recall. I haven't used this device for an extended period, but since there are no mechanical parts, I expect that it will last. We have been using a professional on hold service for many years at about $60/month. The box that the professional company gave us sounded great when customers would call from a Lan Line. But, when calling from cell phone the voice messages were lower volume and the music would sound horrible. Music keeps cutting in and out and sounds very staticky. So we decided to save some $ and cancel our subscription and buy this unit. We are using the default music and voice messages that came preloaded instead of doing our own music and messages.
