Ultimately, your choice of hold music isn’t going to make customers happy if they’re being kept waiting for more than a few minutes, or endlessly passed from one team to another. There are plenty of technologies available to make the inbound call experience faster and more enjoyable although these will vary between different call centre solutions. If you’re not sure what tools you have available to optimise your inbound experience, your call centre software or systems provider will be happy to help.

The term “ring” has long been an anachronism, as there haven’t been actual bells on phones for decades. The first ringback tones were created in Finland in 1998, when the Finnish mobile operator Radiolinja began offering the service of hearing customized monophonic ringtones and ringback tones that were sent over the air. Ringback tones, for whatever reason, never really caught on in America the way they did internationally.

Even if your wait time is short, don’t discount the power of hold music. OnSIP’s average wait time averaged 18 seconds last month, which is just long enough for the caller to notice that the instrumental music is pleasant, with enough character to prevent boredom, before our team picks up. When that’s the last thought in your caller’s head before speaking with your business, it’s likely to be a more pleasant conversation than it might have been otherwise.
Some providers have it some don't. You would have to contact AT&T to see if they support it. Apr 14, 2009 4:53 PM User profile for user: Robni Rekk Robni Rekk Apr 14, 2009 5:04 PM in response to PsychedelicWonders In response to PsychedelicWonders
