How to Format Your On Hold Script. For an average IVR phone system where customers are on hold for 1-3 minutes, it’s wise to have at least two courtesy messages and two marketing messages, with each message timing out to precisely 30 seconds (:30). Hold music should play in between the messages for 30 seconds (:30).
On average, 5 to 15 seconds of music plays between each message blurb. Keep your audience in mind: musical breaks that are too long are boring, but message blurbs that are long or too detailed can be overwhelming. In most cases, 5 to 15 seconds, between message blurbs that don’t exceed 30 seconds are usually appropriate.
.
The decision to update your on-hold message depends largely on the content you are sharing. If you are sharing content that includes short-term promotions, this information will need frequent updating so consumers are always aware of the status of any offers. However, if you’re only sharing general information about your standard products, your operating hours and location, then the decision to update the message can be more reliant on metrics.

A music on hold adapter has an integrated analog adapter module which allows any and all of your phones to provide on hold audio content to ordinary analog and “KSU-Less” phone systems. Currently, when a caller is placed on hold with an ordinary phone, that call is routed back to your phone company. And there it sits.
Hold music is one of those subjects that unites people from all walks of life. No matter where you’re from or what your background is, the prospect of five minutes listening to poorly chosen music while your telephone gradually makes a painful imprint on the side of your head fills everyone with a justifiable sense of dread.

message. Important notice. Since the phones can be used anywhere in the world, Emergency 911 will not always work as intended. If the phone system is in Reno and the desk phone is in Phoenix and you dial 911, Reno will get the ambulance. In those cases, we try to have stickers on phone that say “No 911” but they wear off or may not have
Slow your roll—there’s a lot more to hold music than just genre. A phone line isn’t a state of the art speaker system; its primary function is to make sure the call is connected. Volume changes, frequency, and distortion are all elements to consider when choosing hold music.
