If your target market are young millennials, then the script would most likely include some slang words, be quite laid back and the script would be recorded in an energetic tone. If you primarily service the business market, then the script would be more articulate and recorded with a more professional tone. The effectiveness of the first three above-mentioned elements are often neutralized by a poor understanding of the broadcast carrier of the On Hold message and how it affects the recording process. For more information on this topic, click here.
The most engaging messages are slightly unique in nature. They combine a mix of clever scripting and music. Slight humour is often used to promote a product or service and is usually quite effective. It's also very important to choose both the written and spoken tone that appeals to the characteristics of your audience. If your target market is the younger generation, a script that includes slang words and is quite laid back would be an excellent choice. If your target market is primarily business professionals, then a more articulate choice of words would be more suitable.
This is your opportunity to demonstrate professionalism and communicate directly to your caller. You should provide as many sections as required, depending on how long you expect the average caller to be on hold. Usually, 6-10 sections of dialogue are sufficient.
The included USB drive is preloaded with 6 hours of royalty-free music recorded specifically for music on hold with standard pleasant "thank you for holding" messages inserted every minute.
The music in our on hold music section is pre-licensed, which means we can mix it with your on-hold messages without charging an additional music license. Also, this smaller selection of music is not in a PRO such as ASCAP, BMI, PRS etc. so you won't have to pay these agencies a fee for playing music on hold. You can use music from our library if you wish but there will be an additional license cost and not all of it is PRO free.
What’s the average length of the musical interludes in a Message on Hold program?

For those still using analogue or digital phone systems, voice on ISDN circuits has a bandwidth of around 4000Hz. The audio from an analogue phone is sampled at 8000Hz, and because of the nyquist theorem, must be low-pass filtered to 4000Hz. So any frequencies in the audio beyond 4000Hz are lost. Interestingly, the human ear and mind are good at recognising human speech, so this is considered "toll-quality" voice, i.e. good enough to pay for. This is the reason why certain vocalised letters are difficult or impossible to tell apart on the phone. For example, the differences between B, P, T, C, etc. are almost entirely above 4000Hz.
