Voice over Internet Protocol, similar to cellular networks, is handled digitally. Ringback is one way in which VoIP is setting itself apart from traditional telephony services. When you subscribe to business VoIP, your phone will most likely come pre-programmed with both ringback and on-hold music. VoIP providers, unlike cell phone carriers, don’t charge extra for ringback tones. Not only that, you can upload your own custom ringback and on-hold music, such as a favorite song, a customized soundtrack, or even a customized greeting or up-sell message. VoIP subscribers can select different connect and on-hold music by accessing their online portal.

"I just wanted to tell you that I was on hold the other day, listening to the Halloween / Road Hazard message you wrote. It’s so funny! And the voices are hilarious, too. It made my day!" - Suzy Mitchell / Hercules Tires

If you are a small enterprise and want to project a business that is promoting itself at every opportunity, you can for a small outlay educate your callers while on hold about your products, services, website and more.
What’s more, our custom music and on hold messages are compatible with all industries and all phone systems. That means that no matter what type of business you run or what phone provider you use, you know that you’ll be able to reach your customers in a meaningful way.
The file is added to the list of music files. If you have multiple files listed, you can adjust the order they will be played in. Click the up and down arrows next to the files to move them up or down in the list. To remove a file from the list, click the red Delete icon next to it. Go to Greetings > During call transfer > choose an existing file or upload a new one. Sorry to hear about that. *This does not include phones purchased off the shelf at office supply stores such as Staples and Officemax. For the most part, these phones do not have the Message on Hold capability built-in. Add-ons are available for some models but their functionality can be problematic or inconvenient for the user. The best course of action is to upgrade to either a basic key phone system or one of the new virtual phone systems, for which Holdcom is a key audio production supplier. If it is a genre, hold music, it's fair to say, is a troubled one with few hits. It's not really meant to be loved or even listened to — it's meant to communicate something specific: Don't hang up. (Cornell makes this plea specifically at the end of his song.) Silence is believed to be a death knell for phone calls — people will simply think the line is dead and hang up. This is true even on non-hold calls; it's why phone companies transmit something called a "comfort tone" over phone lines, a barely audible synthetic noise that signals a connection is still there.
Depending on how large your business is, you may want more than one on hold messaging option. If you have several departments to take care of, you should consider the customizable extensions feature available through most systems. This feature allows you to craft specific messages for various phone extensions throughout your organization. If you need to provide different information to different callers, this is the best way to do it.
Super helpful service when I ordered the wrong headset, Jo was super helpful in recommending one with a USB drive and replacing the one I ordered. Highly recommend this company for their customer service. I wish more companies were like this. 😀
So, given that hold music is such a powerful potential source of frustration, why do companies continue to get it wrong? Reading the articles that are out there, there seems to be a lot of speculation regarding the best choice of music to placate or even entertain customers while they wait in your queue. Some common suggestions include “Hanging On The Telephone” by Blondie, or Lionel Richie’s “Hello, is it me you’re looking for?”. Or how about looking up the customer’s record in your call centre CRM, grabbing their date of birth, and playing something based on their age range - pop for the under 25s and presumably something fusty for the oldies?
Length – if your callers typically wait 2 minutes at a time, then at least 2 minutes of programming should be the goal. The idea is to ensure the callers don’t hear repeated messages every time they call. A typical on-hold message is 4-8 minutes in length.
This is the BIGGEST FLAW / WEAKNESSS of weave. Please add a multicast loop option that can play our message on hold file continuously and drop patients in as they call. Otherwise people hear the same thing over and over. This is a perfect way to help introduce patients to the office and market our services while patients are on hold.
