You have your callers attention and it’s time to tell them about your services and products. On hold messages is a valuable marketing tool that you should take full advantage of. Things to consider when you write your on hold messages script: Why are your callers on hold?• What do they have in common? What could you say to benefit your caller? Do you have any special offers or promotions that your callers will buy into? Is there a ‘must have’ service or product that will excite your caller? Have you won any awards or gained recognition for products or customer service? How can you use the time your caller is on hold to generate awareness and sales? Once you have your script, always us a professional female or male voiceover.

Ever heard a recorded message that sounded so clear that it made you think someone had answered your call? We’ve all been there. It’s frustrating when you realize you just got excited about a recording. Even worse when it happens multiple times on the same call!
We have an old at&t Merlin phone system and that could be the cause of volume issue but not sure. If you buy this box and volume is too low for cell phones, I recommend buying the IBOOST to solve this problem.

Before we get into “Step-By-Step Guide to Custom On Hold Messages” it’s important to understand the value of having custom on hold messages for your brand. Business has always been done over the phone, and callers have always been put on hold, but as online shopping has surpassed brick and mortar traffic, over-the-phone sales have reached all time highs. A recent study by Marchex shows that Americans spent more than $1 trillion in mobile “click-to-call” commerce, and there was over 93 billion consumer-to-business phone calls from smartphones and this number is expected to grow to a whopping 162 billion by 2019, 70% of callers are placed on hold 62% of callers hang-up in less than 45 seconds 34% of callers who hang-up will never call back.

One of the most challenging aspects of writing for speech is optimising text to be read aloud and recorded. On paper, long, complex sentences are easily accommodated. When read out aloud, the same sentences can sound awkward and confusing.
Here are a few things to keep in mind to have a killer script your callers will be receptive to: Speak to your audience: When creating a script, make sure you know WHO you’re talking to above anything else. Is it moms, teenagers or middle-aged men who like golf? Appeal to their interests in relation to your business with a captive voice, and they’ll be much more willing to listen (and be patient while doing so). Time it appropriately: You know your business better than anyone else, so as such, you’re probably aware of a caller’s average hold times. While this can vary with growth and other factors, make sure you record enough messages to fill the time so a caller isn’t stuck hearing an eternal loop of the same 3 messages. They’ll thank you for it by being far less irritated. Stay current: Some companies have seasonal sales and changes, so including this in your script as the year progresses means you remain relevant with the latest and greatest. For example, during the holidays you can say “Seasons greetings from Fletcher’s Flowers...” or something similar. You can also include event notifications, advertisements, and other informational messages so they learn more about your business. Be natural: Think about how you’d like to be talked to. Typically, a robot isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. Writing for auditory purposes elicits a different approach than writing for digital or print. Make sure whatever your script is that you read it aloud, and test it out on coworkers or friends. If they get bored or disengage, chances are, your callers will too. Know their path: What’s your end goal for what you’d like your caller to accomplish? Tailor your messaging to them based on what you come up with. If you’d like to upsell, consider using some on hold time to discuss a company-wide promotion they can take advantage of, or a fun fact about your industry they wouldn’t know. Give a call-back option: If your phone system has the feature and a caller doesn’t have time to spend on hold, offer them the option to receive a callback without affecting their position in line, or to leave a message. This can alleviate the stress of waiting.
-41% of American consumers have initiated a purchase over the phone in the last year.
A typical Message on Hold program is 4 minutes long. Because a voice over talent typically reads between 100 and 112 words per minute, the script for a four-minute program can be up to 400 words, allowing for four to six paragraphs or messages, interspersed by brief intervals of music. Longer audio storage and program lengths are available if necessary.
