This plays immediately after the initial greeting message. If all agents continue to remain busy, the caller will continue to hear the On Hold Music, which can be either music or a message. Click Create Call Queue or click Edit (pencil icon) to the right of the queue you wish to select. Select Change under Hold Music. Enter the Name and the Phone Number or Extension you wish to record your initial greeting on. Click Call Now and follow the instructions.
I agree with you. The music phone service provider use is never the best! Like you, when I switch to my calendar on iPhone and ask my caller to wait while I do that, it would be great to have one of my iPod tracks play to him until I pressed the green bar again to return to the call. Surely one could set that up independently of the phone service provider: just a matter of substituting my music choice for my voice until I clicked back off hold?? It’s very important to thank your customers for waiting. Being on hold is not a desirable experience for anyone. The least you can do it thank your clients for their time and to help them not feel neglected.
The same goes with sales: You want your caller to be excited about talking to you.

The best hold music has few instruments and preferably only one. Simple music handles the change in quality better than a full orchestra arrangement. The latter gets distorted, particularly if it’s too loud for the phone to handle and clipping happens. No one wants to hear a dirge-like cacophony masquerading as “Pachelbel’s Canon in D.”

“Superbly written copy and extremely dry humor that was a perfect match for what could've been a dull subject. I laughed out loud at points, and when a caller starts with that reaction, it's a great way to start a conversation.” - Jim Hausfeld / On Hold Messaging Association's MARCE Awards Judge
The best customer service I can remember! Stacy helped me chose the right headset and was very patient when I changed my mind. Nice, simple packaging and a prompt service. Thoroughly recommend.

Over 16% of callers make purchasing decisions based on the messages they hear while on-hold, even if the messages aren’t about your company.
On hold messages can be recorded for many purposes, such as promoting your business, answering FAQs or announcing important customer service information. It's important to be clear in the message you are trying to get across. Confusion leads to disengagement and reflects badly on the brand. Determining your callers' wait times is necessary to determine the required length of the on-hold message. Making the recording too short can lead to the message being played too many times. This can be repetitive and lose the caller's attention while they hold.
We work with all our clients on an as needed basis, with no long term commitments or leases required.
