Power is on, the USB will play on computer, tried to use a different USB with the machine still woulnt work. This device replaced my 5-CD changer to provide background music for a business phone system. This is a lot less expensive than another CD changer, a lot smaller, and it allows us to hear the song being played (with its small internal speaker.) the volume control allows us to set the volume that caller will hear. When it arrived, we installed it with our office telephone system and have never needed to worry about it again. It has such a wide selection that callers get different music every time they call - it does not noticeably repeat. We even got a few compliments from clients in the first month (who had apparently got tired of our old 45-second repeating loop). Terrible product, will not work at all I have purchased 2 of them hoping it was a glitch but neither work, in addition I called support, no help at all, said they would call back-never did.
