2 days after ordering my Grace Message Player, it came from Amazon in perfect condition (I got prime yo!). I plugged the power cord in, and plugged the male thingy into the Grace thingy, and bam, we have had on hold music ever since. After a few minutes of music, they have a male voice come on explaining that we care but we are busy...we have not forgotten you etc etc, and then some more music, and then a female voice saying basically the same thing. I guess I could load an mp3 with some sales stuff on it, but I kind of like the neutural message that they already had on the machine. I am sooo glad I got this thing. Highly recommended. I haven't used this device for an extended period, but since there are no mechanical parts, I expect that it will last. We have been using a professional on hold service for many years at about $60/month. The box that the professional company gave us sounded great when customers would call from a Lan Line. But, when calling from cell phone the voice messages were lower volume and the music would sound horrible. Music keeps cutting in and out and sounds very staticky. So we decided to save some $ and cancel our subscription and buy this unit. We are using the default music and voice messages that came preloaded instead of doing our own music and messages.

You’ll notice that there’s not too much of a difference between the track when played at CD quality and over the phone. All the instruments can still be heard clearly, and the same techniques I used to introduce clipping on the other two tracks had no effect (I could have kept amplifying the track until it did, but it proved the point). And because it’s fairly bland and inoffensive, you’re not going to upset anyone too much if it’s not their cup of tea.
