12. “Hello, you’ve reached the Customer Support department at [company name]. We are unable to take your call at the moment. We know your time is valuable so instead of placing you on hold, let us call you back! It doesn’t have to be that way, though. First of all, leaving a voicemail isn’t that big of a deal. It’s just a message. Less than a minute of you talking, and that’s it. It’s doesn’t call for panic.
Your own answering greeting should be short. Don't bother to say that you aren't available to take the call. That's a waste of time, and there's no point in restating the obvious. Instead, simply identify yourself and ask the caller to leave a message.
