There is something about that voicemail beep that sends brains into panic mode, and we will start spewing out words as fast as possible to get the awkwardness of talking to a machine over with. The problem is if you speak too quickly, your listener won’t be able to understand what you’re saying –making the whole point of the voicemail irrelevant.
So that person doesn’t pick up, and you are thinking ok cool, I’ll just call back – but NO – then you hear that dreadful message (correction: dreaded message): “Hi, this is Luke Skywalker, I am not available right now, please leave a message after the beep. I’ll get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you”
Please note that if you record an unavailable greeting, it will be used instead of the default message with your name recording.
2. "Hi, you've reached [name] at [company]. If you need a quick response, please shoot me an email at [insert email address] and I'll be in touch by EOD tomorrow.
