If you are currently in the job market and you can’t remember what your voicemail greeting is, it might not be a bad idea to check in and see if it needs updating. Depending on what it is, when a hiring manager hears it, they may decide to not leave a voicemail after all. “You have reached the voicemail box of Jane Smith. I am sorry I missed your call. When you’re looking for a job, a good rule of thumb is to answer your phone as often as you can. You never know when a recruiter might be calling to set up an in-person meeting, or conduct a phone interview.
18. “Thanks for calling [Company name/your name]. We hope you’re enjoying the holiday season. We aren’t available at the moment due to our holiday hours. Leave your name, number and the reason for your call and we’ll get back to you ASAP! Thanks for calling.” Everyone deserves a break. Let your callers know although you might be enjoying one too, that their needs are important.
Change your voicemail password: Go to Settings > Phone > Change Voicemail Password, then enter the new password.
You don’t want to answer calls 24/7 (unless you’re serving clients globally and there’s an expectation of 24/7 support). If you’re unavailable during specific hours of the day, use the voicemail examples below for after-hours business calls.

To access voice mail settings in the new Outlook on the web, select Settings > View all Outlook settings > General > Voice mail.
In the Voicemail section, tap Voicemail greeting. Tap Record a greeting. Tap Record . Record your greeting and when you’re done, tap Stop . Choose what you want to do with the recording: To listen to the recording, tap Play . To replace the recording, tap Redo. To save the recording, tap Save. Enter a name for the new greeting and tap Save.
The Voice Memos app can also be used to record a voice message. You then tap the ellipsis icon and open the Share pane to find the correct destination.
4. By default, your voicemail will be setup with your carrier's generic greeting.
1. Limit Background Noise. If you’re recording your greeting from the back of a New York City cab with the windows down, it’s gonna be pretty obvious to your callers.
The body is the meat and potatoes of your voicemail. This is the section where you leave details about why you are calling and what you hope to achieve from this voicemail, which is usually a call back.
When leaving your voicemail and phone number, do not say, "Please call me back at ..." Nothing sounds more like a salesperson making a cold call then saying, "please call me back at...".
