If you’re making several calls, make sure you document your messages so you can be on top of it immediately if/when your call is returned. Nothing worse (or more stupid) than getting a returned call and having no idea who it’s from.

I wish that I’d read this a few years ago. I think that we all have a few voicemails that we wish that we could keep forever, but I lost a few a couple years ago. When do you leave a voicemail? This is largely dependent on your call sequence and cadence. It is recommended that you make several call attempts in order to engage the prospect on a “live call.” After you have done this and your attempts have not been fruitful, then you leave a voicemail.

Press 1 to record the Unavailable Message. Record the message after the tone and press pound. To keep the message, press 1 to accept the message. If not satisfied, press 3 to re-record and repeat steps 5 and 6.
Be polite and considerate. Give the person 10 seconds to compose themselves and prepare a concise message. Not only is this good manners across a MUCH larger portion of the world than the U.S., but it is also just common sense.
Salespeople are often coached to sound enthusiastic and excited on the phone, thus raising their natural voice pitch to a high, unnatural tone. In my opinion, this tone of voice makes it clear to the listener that not only is this an uncomfortable call, but a generic one.
Hello, this is [Your Name] from [Company Name]. I'm calling because [insert reason for calling]. I'd love to talk to you about [insert benefit you can offer if they call back]. My number is [insert phone number]. I'll also follow up with an email tomorrow. I look forward to hearing what you think. Have a great day. Goodbye!
2. Select the menu icon, it’s usually the three-dotted icon found towards the top-right hand corner.
“Hi (PROSPECTS NAME) this is (YOUR NAME) with (YOUR COMPANY) and I see we’ve left you a few messages / emails regarding (HOT BUTTON / WHATS IN IT FOR THEM VALUE STATEMENT) but haven’t heard back from you.
*Use the word “with” instead of “to.” It sounds more positive. You want to talk “with” the person, not give them a “talking to.” It’s a subtle difference, yet it keeps the message positive.
