It’s shocking to learn that 97% of calls go to voicemail but, after making hundreds of calls, most would agree the percentage feels at least that high. Consider the following before making a call: Where the lead came from Time of day the lead was received Keep your message short (under 20 seconds) Avoid giving away too much information Add information that will pique their interest Speak with confidence/authority Keep tone and delivery casual and friendly Be clear and concise
5. "Hello, [Person's name] is chasing new adventures and is no longer with [Company name]. Please forward all future requests to [New or interim person's name] at [phone number].
Those who know me know I can hold a conversation. I love people, and my desire to share with them carries over to leaving cell phone messages. Sadly, I know better than to leave long messages, and I have no excuse, but I tend to chatter on, and on, and on, enjoying a conversation with, essentially, myself.
Try to avoid casual salutations like, “Hi” or “Hey” if this is your first time calling someone. Your introduction should be one or two sentences tops. From there you can move on to the body.
Before you make any calls, start with setting a goal. Will you be working on your tone? Your passion? The length of the message?
You’re growing tired. Your eyelids are getting heavy. You feel very sleepy now. You are gradually losing your willpower and your ability to resist suggestions. When you hear the tone you will feel helplessly compelled to leave your name, number, and a message.
Once again, by using these scripted, proven messages you’ll be giving yourself the best chance to hear back from your prospects and clients. And remember, even if their answer is no, that’s a lot better than chasing unqualified prospects who are never going to buy. Mike Brooks

Sometimes I’m good at leaving a voicemail that’s to the point, but most of the time I feel like I’m a babbling idiot. I never know how much information to leave. How much is too much? Follow that with an email that says the same thing, log the call / update your notes in your CRM and MOVE ON!
If you're going to call a prospect, you have to leave a message. Regardless of whether the prospect was actively screening calls or simply away from their desk when the phone rang, your number will pop up as a missed call. And if there's no accompanying voicemail?
