A commonly overlooked aspect of voicemail etiquette is your own mailbox greeting. A lot of us simply set it and forget it when we first get our phones, which for some of us was when we were teens, or we don’t have anything set up at all.
The AUDIX voice mail system allows you to record and store several personal greetings, each for a specific situation. You can manually activate each greeting as needed. You can assign special numbers to greetings to help you remember them. For example:

As the odds of receiving a call back from your voicemail message are already low, you need to be very specific about what you say in your voicemail to give you the greatest chance of getting a call back. What you absolutely do NOT want to do is make yourself sound like a salesperson making a cold call. Instead, you want to sound like a very confident business colleague who deserves the respect of getting a call back.
Before any selling can begin, it is your job to engage and connect with the person on the other end of the line. So, push to build that relationship first. After all, the point of a voicemail message is to create a call to action and have it returned.

What’s more annoying than being unprepared? Doing business with someone who is. In other words, don’t wing it — practice your script, speaking slowly and annunciating each word.
A professional voicemail should be short and succinct. Simply introduce your company, ask the caller to leave their information, and let the caller know when to expect a callback. Once you record your greeting, you can easily upload it into the OpenPhone app. Simply go to your phone number’s settings, then choose to record a greeting, upload an mp3 file, or use text-to-speech.
Repeat your phone number twice. People seem to forget that the receiver of their message has to write the number as you say it. Don’t rush through it. Even when you say it slowly, it’s hard to get down the first time. So repeat it again, so they can check to be sure they got it down right.
