But imagine if you received a sales voicemail at 9 a.m. It might be the most compelling, well-delivered voicemail you've ever heard, but you're probably dealing with several other tasks. You decide to respond to the rep when you have more time. By the time the end of the day rolls around, you've completely forgotten about her.
While you’re updating your voicemail greeting, make sure you let callers know when they can expect to receive a call back from you or from someone else from your company. Most professionals opt for a 24-hour callback window. Clearly state this in your voicemail greeting to set expectations with your callers.

Not only do you sound more articulate and confident when you're not rushing to the finish line, but you also sound more authentic. Speaking in a rush suggests you've been dialing all day and need to be as efficient as possible. Yet if you're making three calls rather than 30, you're probably going to sound far more deliberate. A slow finish tells the buyer they're not just another name on a list.

It's important to mention your follow-up plans in your sales voicemails. Sometimes just the knowledge that you'll call again is enough to entice a prospect to respond. Let them know that if you don't hear back from them, you'll follow up in a few days or next week.
If you want to improve your voicemail performance, get deliberate in your practice. This means creating a highly structured practice routine that offers ample opportunity for repetition and immediate feedback.
Pro tip: Only use first names. People of authority call each other by their first name only. Using the contact’s full name or saying Mr./Ms. [last name] can make you seem less confident and important than the person you’re calling.
In sales, immediate communication with your prospects and current customers is important. Being available to answer questions or further negotiate a deal allows your clients to feel secure and more apt to purchase from you. But what if you can’t answer the phone when they call? Make sure you have a voicemail system set up so your clients have the opportunity to leave you a message.
