Whether you ended the voicemail asking a question they are prompted to answer, left your contact information instructing them to call you back, or told them to look out for a follow-up email, the message recipient should know exactly what’s coming next, and how to behave accordingly if they are interested in the deal.

A good voicemail should be more about the prospect than the salesperson. Especially when cold calling, you want to provide as much value as possible to incentivize your prospect to return your call.

Press # to leave the greeting inactive or follow the voice prompts to activate the greeting.

Never use voicemail as a way to avoid speaking with someone. It doesn't help, and a person would have to be terminally dense not to figure out your game. If you must call when you know the other person isn't available, say, "I know you won't be able to take the call now, but I wanted to let you know that..."
When recording, choose a quiet area, speak clearly, and use your full name (first and last).
