A voice mailbox is typically associated with a telephone number. When the number is called, and the line is busy or not answered, the caller hears an outgoing Greeting recorded by you and is given instructions for leaving a message.
In Australian English it’s pronounced with the vowel /a:/ like in ‘part’. Problems arise when people use the /ʌ/ vowel (like in ‘up’) instead of /æ/ or /a:/. What you absolutely do NOT want to do is make yourself sound like a salesperson making a cold call. Instead, you want to sound like a very confident business colleague who deserves the respect of getting a call back.
