4. Enter your voicemail password. If you have set a password lock for your voicemail account, you will be prompted to key it in. Use the dial pad to do so.
So, you diligently practice this presentation, yet when you call, all you get is a voicemail. You will have to decide whether to leave a voicemail – it is debatable. Try your own experiment to see what works. I recommend leaving voicemails.

You can reset your voice mail passcode over the phone or on the My Verizon website. To reset the password over the phone for Verizon Wireless numbers, dial “*611” from your cellular phone. Select the option to reset the voice mail passcode from the main menu and follow the prompts.
And you’re done! Your CenturyLink voicemail is now set up. Whenever you have an unheard message, you'll hear a stuttered dial tone when you pick up your home phone. Take a few minutes to gather your thoughts, even jot down a few notes, and practice before you record. Before you start recording, turn off anything in the background that might cause noise. While clever greetings can be fun, it's worth taking a moment to think about the range of potential callers who may be leaving you voicemail. Consider the tone and image you want to project. Don't worry! If you don't like your recording, you can erase it and re-record as many times as you'd like.
Save the highest-rated voicemails. And be honest about which ones you would delete. Those are the ones that need your attention. Separate those elements that need help, and focus on one at a time until perfect voicemails become second nature.

Whatever you do, don’t call and hang up without leaving a voicemail. The contact is never going to return a call from an unknown number and, the next time you call, they’ll be even less interested in what you have to say.
Check for outages and troubleshoot problems with your home phone or internet service.
If you’re a small business owner, we recommend going with the RIY (record it yourself) route. First, it’s more affordable. Second (and more importantly), if your clients expect to work with you directly, they will expect to hear your voice when they place a phone call.

You can set up stutter dial tone through your account portal. With this feature on, you will have a stutter dial tone, instead of a normal dial tone, if you have a new voicemail.
Conducting extra research on your prospects before you call them is always a good idea. This script from Mike Brooks is a great example of how you can use this additional information in your sales voicemails.

7. Identify Yourself And Your Business. When you call someone for the first time, unless you know their voice, you really have no way of making sure you actually called the right number.
