Find a piece of connective tissue, such as an alma mater, a favorite sports team, or a common pet (I’m a dog lover, personally). This opens the conversation and shows that you’ve done your research.
The other day, I was leaving a message, and the voicemail system cut me off. It seems I exceeded my 90 seconds of allotted time. No, I didn’t call back. I figured the man got the gist of the message, so I left the ball in his court.

After each one, evaluate your performance. Most systems provide the option of listening to the message you just left. Doing this as much as possible will improve your performance more than anything else. Would you save that voicemail? Would you return that call? Would you return that call right away? Are you missing the basics (alternative phone number, optimal ways to get in touch, a fall-back person to call)? Did you craft it or wing it?
To record a message to someone other than the sender, press 1 4. Record at the tone, then press # to approve the message.

You may not think it, but an auto-attendant is an important part of your business. It is typically the first point of contact with your customers, as they will call your main number with sales inquiries, troubleshooting questions, etc.
Salespeople are often coached to sound enthusiastic and excited on the phone, thus raising their natural voice pitch to a high, unnatural tone. In my opinion, this tone of voice makes it clear to the listener that not only is this an uncomfortable call, but a generic one.
Now before we jump into one possible solution, let’s cover an additional step you may want to add to your repertoire:
1. Press the fixed key with the envelope graphic, or dial the phone’s phone number.
Step 2: Press 0 to listen to the message. To rewind the message (or return to previous message) press 2. To play back the header, press 2 3.
The main interface of the recorder is like a control bar. From here, turn on "System Sound" to capture any audio coming out from your device. Next, hit the "REC" button to start recording. You can play the voicemail at this moment.
Although a seller might get a higher response rate from an email or another type of message, responses to voicemails are generally richer and demonstrate a greater level of interest. So what a salesperson loses in quantity, they gain in quality.
