How long should a voicemail be? A good voice mail should be like a Super Bowl commercial, right around 30 seconds.
I always end voicemails with my phone number. The reasoning? First, it's his cue to wrap up. It keeps him from rambling and gives the prospect a clear call to action: Call him back.

You don’t have to have fancy words or a whole new voicemail message for the 2nd attempt.
Choose your busy greeting from the drop-down menu next to If busy use greeting from: System—This plays the system default greeting. Personal—If this option is selected, choose the file to upload.
State your name first. You would think this would be so basic that it shouldn’t even be mentioned. However, I can’t count the number of times I’ve gotten voicemails where people go on and on and I don’t even know who’s talking to me until the very end. Pretty annoying.

Friends and colleagues speak to each using first names only. So do people of authority. They do not call each other and leave voicemail messages asking for Mister, Miss, or Mrs. Therefore, when you call a person you want to do business with and you leave a voicemail message, refer to them by their first name only.
