When opening your voicemail, start with a professional or generic greeting like, “Hello” or “Good Morning”. Be sure to clearly state your name, who you are/where you’re from, and (where applicable) how you got their contact information.

Your own answering greeting should be short. Don't bother to say that you aren't available to take the call. That's a waste of time, and there's no point in restating the obvious. Instead, simply identify yourself and ask the caller to leave a message.

The Android operating system includes a native visual voicemail that lets you view voicemail messages in text form. Try to rehearse your voicemail as if you’re rehearsing for a play! Take a paper and write down all you want to convey in your voicemail. Word it properly, and give enough time to make it coherent and comprehensible. You can also read out what you want to express, as the process helps you in collecting your thoughts and putting them down in words.
