Calling your retrieval number — instead of your home phone number — is a faster way to listen to your messages remotely. You will be prompted immediately to enter your PIN and don't have to wait for your greeting to start.

Call your iPhone from another phone and try to leave yourself a voicemail. Go to the keypad and press and hold the number 1, or press the Call Voicemail button. This dials voicemail. Check if you have any missed messages. On the Voicemail screen, tap Greeting. Then change your greeting to either custom or default. If you have more than one
Repeat your phone number twice. People seem to forget that the receiver of their message has to write the number as you say it. Don’t rush through it. Even when you say it slowly, it’s hard to get down the first time. So repeat it again, so they can check to be sure they got it down right.

You can set up stutter dial tone through your account portal. With this feature on, you will have a stutter dial tone, instead of a normal dial tone, if you have a new voicemail.
