When leaving your voicemail and phone number, do not say, "Please call me back at ..." Nothing sounds more like a salesperson making a cold call then saying, "please call me back at...".
If I get a message like that – I would be wondering: Who is me? I still like it when people leave their name, I don’t have to be guessing who is calling.

Your second call should happen immediately after your first voicemail. In this message, quickly say, in 10 seconds or less, an important detail you neglected to mention during your first call.
Having a dedicated emergency contact will help make sure anything important that comes up is taken care of. Another option is directing callers to a separate answering service.
If you’re making several calls, make sure you document your messages so you can be on top of it immediately if/when your call is returned. Nothing worse (or more stupid) than getting a returned call and having no idea who it’s from.

Background noises can be picked up in voicemail recordings, and even though we may not want them to, they do subversively impact how our messages are received. Noisy backgrounds tend to trigger thoughts of a chaotic atmosphere --implying that you are disorganized or do not consider the content of your message to be important enough to be heard clearly. And if you don’t care about what you’re trying to say, why should the person on the other end of the phone?
Context will make your message sound much more authentic and will result in a higher response rate.
