I don’t mind it so much for people I know. I have to deal with them on a daily basis, so I can’t hold voicemail grudges against them. However, if someone cold calls me or it’s just an acquaintance that calls, a crappy voicemail annoys me and leaves a bad impression.
In the Phone app , Visual Voicemail (available from select carriers) shows a list of your messages. You can choose which ones to play and delete without listening to all of them. A badge on the Voicemail icon indicates the number of unheard messages.
To activate Visual Voicemail, dial 1217 from your iPhone and a recorded message will confirm it has been switched on. When a message is left in your voicemail mailbox, you'll see a notification against the ‘Phone’ widget on your iPhone.
