A voicemail greeting is a greeting that you record on your phone. This is played when you are not able to answer your phone. The person who calls you will hear the greeting and then leave a message.

It seems like it’s something really simple, but it’s critical to your business to get the most out of your prospecting time…. So what’s the right way leave a voicemail???
It’s going to be something like that. It’s a bit long isn’t it? Haha It goes against my advice! haha
If, on the other hand, your clients work with a number of team members, you might consider hiring a voiceover professional to record your greeting. While a recording with a voice actor is an extra expense, the result often outweighs the cost.
First, install the voicemail recorder on your Windows or Mac computer. Hit at least a "Download" button provided above to get it started. Once installed, open Music Recorder and let's start recording voicemail.
2. Be Unique. Your business is creative and different, so shouldn’t your voicemail be, too? Generic greetings like, “I’m away from my desk right now, but I really value your call.
Dan Grim, CEO/Founder of Good Stuff Tonics and Melior Botanicals, keeps his script even simpler:
Standard greeting with phone number: "At the tone, please record your message to [phone number]."
“Hello ___. This is ______ from _________. I’m calling because you requested information through [vendor] about [address of house]. I’m available right now to answer questions. I found a couple of other homes near the one you’re interested in, and they are similarly priced. Do you want to talk tonight? You can call or text me at ___________. I look forward to speaking with you and answering any questions. Again my number is ___________. Thank you!"
Avoid piecing your voicemail together on the fly — as I mentioned earlier, a good one is backed by preparation. So prepare, prepare, and prepare some more.
When incorporated with a prospecting omni channel approach, voicemail is a powerful tool that can help your outreach goal of creating prospect engagement. Measure your approach, adjust and improve, your persistent efforts will yield significant results.
1. Select the fixed key with the envelope graphic, or dial the phone’s phone number.
That’s the simple structure of a voicemail greeting. Overall, your greeting should be professional, but the wording can vary depending on the situation. Check out a sample below.
Standard greeting with phone number: "At the tone, please record your message to [phone number]."
3. Call your voicemail. Using the dial pad, type in the phone number assigned to your voicemail account, and then press the green Call button. Or, just press and hold the 1 key if that's easier.
It's never been more important for salespeople to be good at leaving voicemails. Not only that, but voicemail can — and should — be measured, coached, and improved. First, let's review general voicemail etiquette. Keep your greeting up-to-date. Let callers know when they can anticipate a response. Share your name and company affiliation. State the intention of your message. Include your contact information at the beginning and end of the message. Be concise. Share your availability.
