Leaving Sales Voicemail Scripts is a Standard Practice. Surprisingly, most salespeople would agree that leaving voicemail message scripts for their prospects is the bare minimum. Before you stop contacting your prospect, you need to make five to six phone calls. Therefore, it’s important to learn the best ways on how to leave a message.
I don’t know about you, but I’m shocked every time I listen to a voicemail message left for me by sales reps, prospects and even clients. They are filled with ‘um’s’ and ‘ah’s’, they ramble on and on, they leave no compelling reason for me to call back, and they almost always leave their number so fast that I have to listen to it two, three, sometimes four times to make it out!
Any other thoughts? Write your voicemail for optimal message, and socialize the voice mail with your manager or your peers. Take the time to read it, time it and record it until you feel comfortable with your tone of voice, inflexion and energy. Write three or four voicemails with different scenarios and value statements; remember that you are trying to create an impression and recognition of your name and your solution.
You’re leaving a voicemail message for someone, and you mess up. Or maybe you’ve just said, “Dude—Your behavior at lunch was appalling,” and you realize that a more tactful wording might be appropriate.
When you have new voicemail, the Phone tab in the Skype for Business main window displays the number of your messages. Why not shorter than 20 seconds? The voicemail indicator will tell the contact how long the message is, and if it’s just 5 or 10 seconds, it may seem like a spam call or a wrong number, which means they won’t listen to it at all. Messages between 20 and 30 seconds seem important enough to listen to but not so long that they’re off-putting for the contact.
