Some people try to get really fancy with their voice mail greetings and they will put the current date on their message. This requires you to update your voice mail greeting daily. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Chances are, that voicemail that you’ve recorded and deleted thirty times has been just fine. Your main goal is not to get in the way of the caller leaving a message, which is exactly what can happen if you overthink it or drone on too long.

Advise your caller that you’re simply on the line with another caller and you’ll be right with them.

And make sure in the queues you leave for yourself as notes you write it down as a reminder to say it out loud.
