I, for one, tend to forget to set my automated out-of-office (OOO) email responder and scramble to do it before the plane takes off đ Itâs important to inform your customers and business associates (and remind your colleagues!) that youâre away, especially if theyâre expecting a prompt response.

The example above (which comes from NY Times) may not take advantage of some of the tips we mentioned, but itâs great because itâs so short. Due to its absent-minded straightforwardness, such a message can be perceived as a real, non-automated reply â as if you were so busy that you only carved out a few seconds to type these five words.
We have tested this workaround by placing a sample vacation message on the iPhone DND mode Auto-Reply screen. To check this feature, we manually turned on the iPhone DND mode from iPhone Control Center with the above settings.

This email comes from another one of my colleagues. The purpose of this email is to intercept messages during Thanksgiving, and the way in which it does so is, well, with thankfulness.
Education Details: When you need to step away from the office and wonât be in touch with your email correspondents, or if you are going on vacation and donât plan on checking your email messages very often, youâll probably want to create an out-of-office/email autoresponder email message to let your colleagues, friends, clients, and family know that you are currently unavailable but will be back soon.

Auto (I mean auto not manual sms send out) sms reply does not work for incoming calls only for messages. I see this issue is getting ignored though pointed out several times. Has anyone cracked this one?
Please be advised that I am out of the office until 26.06. Meanwhile, if you need any support on an urgent matter, do not hesitate to contact (COLLEAGUE NAME), e-mail: [email protected]
I had a coworker that (pre-covid) had an out of office set up any time she worked from home. She didnât operate any differently than when she was in the office, and there wasnât any information in the message, just âFYI Iâm wfh todayâ. It was weird to keep getting those messages, since her working from home had zero effect on your correspondence with her.
That sounds like sheâs using an auto-responder, not an Out of Office. The primary difference, as far as I can tell, is that an auto-response will respond to every email, whereas the OOO message will only reply once per sender when itâs turned on. (Turning it off and then back on resets it)
Hahahahaha, reminds me of the time the entire giant department (hundreds of people) had to sit through a SLIDE SHOW of a higher upâs trip to Europe, in person. They sent a survey afterwardsâthankfully anonymousâand I said it was extremely inappropriate to make us sit through his holiday snaps when most of us canât go on vacation at all and it was supposed to be a WORK meeting.
Happy Holidays is used only around Christmas in the USA. Traditionally, it was meant to include both Christmas and New Year's Day. We don't usually say "Happy Holiday" at other times, although there's nothing wrong with saying it.
