Yes, mine (for external e-mails) typically says somethingalong the lines of âIâm out of the office until [date/time] and messages to this address are not monitored in my absence. I will respond as soon as possible on my return. If your message is urgent, please re-send to my assistant [email address] or telephone [assistantâs number]â Internal it will usually just say âIâm out until [date/time] pass any urgent enquiries to [co-workers] â although my assistant and a couple of others have my home number and personal e-mail so can get hold of me in a genuine emergency, and I will sometimes speak to them in advance if Iâm willing to lower the bar on what amounts to an emergency, but I would not expect any of my employees to do that !

Yes, I do like that option. I can either redirect off the cuff, or if the message isnât urgent, delay delivery so they get it after they get back.
âI am spending time with family today â some things are MORE important than work.â
I wrote the above comment off the top of my head. I wish I had time to rewrite and edit it. I would have changed âtheir goldfishâ to âa spider they accidentally stepped onâ, and would have added more detail to the story of the sisterâs death (e.g. âher Pomeranian yappingâ rather than the less descriptive âher dog barkingâ). Unfortunately, I could not do the thorough writing job required for that comment because someone close to me recently ⌠â The person whose out of office advertised his gig on the weekend, for anyone in travelling to [city] â The people in a certain department who have taken to saying things like âif you really need to contact me, call 000-YYY-XXXX where Y is the square root of [insert numbers] and X is the year plutonium was discovered.â â The ones where people have an auto response saying they only check their emails once a day between 1-2pm â âIâm on research leave and I may be slow to reply.â (Whereby it is guaranteed they will reply immediately, because academics do not *really* take breaks).
If youâre taking a few days off and want to respond only to urgent emails, this template would be a great fit.

Hello! Thank you for your message. I am currently out of the office, with no email access. I will be returning on [date]. If you need immediate assistance before then, you may reach me at my mobile â [mobile number]. Thanks!
Youâll have options to set a âfirst dayâ and âlast day,â or just âfirst day.â If you want things truly automated, picking a âlast dayâ will trigger the autoresponder to automatically turn itself off the day after the selected date. Of course, in those instances when youâre unsure of your exact return date, itâs best to leave this open-ended. The âout of officeâ subject line is much less creative and scientific than say, a cold email subject line or a marketing email subject line. More often than not, theyâre very plain and simple, like the following:

Or, announcing a trip on social media could result in email or social media offers too good to be true. It could open the door to spoofed travel details from an airline or hotel from thieves looking for credentials. Because so many employees use the same credentials for business and pleasure, this can put the organization at risk of an attack.
Donât be afraid to use a pop cultural reference that the audience would recognize. Instead of bemoaning your absence, theyâll have something fun and familiar to laugh at.
REVE Chat offers the template to set up personalized queue messages and exact wait to manage their customer expectations. Under the customization option from the dashboard, you can manage customer conversations by providing estimated time and message.
But traveling for work, then I say âintermittent accessâ so that I only need to respond to the urgent emails and can ignore everything else for a few days.
If itâs not important and youâre just a little bit bored then you can amuse yourself with these fun facts until I return. When hippos are upset, their sweat turns red. Bananas are curved because they grow towards the sun. There are approximately 100,000 hairs on a human head. You can buy eel flavoured ice cream in Japan. A group of jellyfish is called a smack.
