If you're going to be away on medical leave for an illness or a medical procedure and you're going to be gone for a while recovering, you should add this in your out of office email (if you feel comfortable with it). The reason is so your contacts can accord you the needed privacy to heal. This is entirely optional though, if you don't feel comfortable including it, you can leave it out. Hello, Thank you for reaching out. I am currently out of the office on medical leave from September 7 to August 1. I'll be checking my emails intermittently, but in case of an emergency, please send an email to [email protected] or call her on 123-456-7890. Thank you for understanding. Jaden Kruger 7. Temporary Out-of-Office Email for Holidays
Careful. Holiday revelry and debauchery ahead. Proceed with caution (if you dare).

I'm not actually at the North Pole, but I am preoccupied with wrapping presents, drinking hot chocolate, and listening to festive music. Therefore, I wonât respond to your email until [date]. Thank you for your patience, and I hope you have a wonderful holiday.
I found the video funny and would actually laugh at the sense of humor in that out of office message.

Readers, what do you like and hate in out-of-offices replies? Any stories of particularly off-key ones?
Dec 05, 2016 · hi. * December 5, 2016 at 1:01 pm whoa, that is so much worse than what i was going to post. iâm so sorry. last year my team of 10-ish did a yankee swap with a $25 limit. i found 2 good bottles of wine on sale (normally 20+ each) and spent $26. i ended up receiving a 10 year old plug-in computer mouse that was technologically obsolete and also for PC use only â we all use macs at work and ...
I also do not have an OOO for external people â only internal. I always monitor my email enough to be able to forward important external emails to the right person to handle. IDK why, I just donât like them having the burden of emailing someone else if Iâm out. Iâd rather my employee contact them and say âHey, DataQueen let me know you were having an issue and asked me to connect with you.â My last CEO was out for a full year and almost none of our clients knew (we werenât trying to hide it, it was just not pertinent to them).
If you are seeing this message, it is because Iâm retired and having the time of my life. I may be out gardening, or fishing, or on a well-earned Caribbean cruise with my wife. Something you can look forward to when youâve reached my status and vintage.

You probably received a number of these emails, and thus you should be familiar with the information out-of-office emails provide.
I think thatâs maybe something you need to deal with internally with the person/people who youâre asking people to speak to instead â I think if you start to ask the original sender to update you or cc you then itâs going to start to annoy people that they are doing the running around, plus not everyone will do it.
Wow, itâs a bloody snooze fest over here! Just kidding, this option is the most appropriate for 95% of business out-of-office responses. Itâs simple, no-nonsense, and tells people all they need to know.
Also, you need to know your audience if you are going to go eccentric. Alison mentions that this message is fine in their culture, but it wouldnât npbe appropriate for my somewhat formal field. And even if your workplace in general is casual, you might be contacted by someone outside. (In a tiny provincial courthouse I served in the past, there is a story going around that in the 80s a junior but elderly clerk used to address phone callers as hun and sweetheart and generally speak very informally. Most people thought it was funny, and then the President of Supreme Court called and⊠he didnât).
Is your email urgent? If so, you should probably call [Name] at [phone number], and they will assist you. They arenât in the sunshine â theyâre still at work.
