I, for one, tend to forget to set my automated out-of-office (OOO) email responder and scramble to do it before the plane takes off š Itās important to inform your customers and business associates (and remind your colleagues!) that youāre away, especially if theyāre expecting a prompt response.

What makes this a decent example of an OOO message is that itās candid, (hopefully) honest, and blunt. Thereās no guessing whether or not this dude is going to respond to your email this week. Also, it gives us a bit of an insight into his life right now, which helps communication in the moment and in the future. Heās burned out. Even if you did manage to reach him, itās likely heād be resentful, even if he didnāt say so. Thereās a good chance the sender of the original email will identify with this and respect his time.

Optionally, if you want eDesk to send the auto-response at a random time, you can also configure the maximum delay field. In this case, if you set a minimum delay of 1 and a maximum delay of 4, then eDesk will auto-respond with this template between 1 and 4 minutes after it received the message.
Thatās what I always reasonedā¦ better to annoy with too much information that saves hassle on the backend then be brief upfront and sentence people to OoO purgatory.
