This makes a lot of sense to me, since surely in the 3-4 months people tend take as leave in the US, your issue would have been resolved. If I am out of office for more than one day, I will update my email out of office message “I am out of the office with limited access to email until {X date}. Please direct any questions to {support department email}.”

Hijacking this with a question- what do you do when you no longer have an co-workers to serve as an out of office contact?
